Its beneficiaries will be 5th grade students from 5 schools. In this edition we have extended the modern ESMS diagnostic tests with professional laboratory tests.

The children and families qualified for the programme will receive advice from our specialists and take part in educational workshops as well as sports activities.The ESMS tests are delivered in schools by a nurse and an assistant. Although these tests are safe and non-invasive, they are only carried out after the consent of the child’s parents / legal guardians.

As part of this programme we are forging a coalition for children’s health – that is why Eat Smart represents not only state-of-the-art health screening that will allow us to assess children’s health, but also an attractive awareness-raising programme that engages everyone to promote healthy eating habits and active lifestyles. 38 schools participate in the programme. The Electronic System for Medical Services in Schools (ESMS) screenings are carried out by school nurses or school hygienists in the schools’ medical care rooms. Although these check-ups are safe and non-invasive, they are performed only after the consent of the child’s parents / legal guardians.

We also organised an ARTS COMPETITION with prizes under the lead theme “I eat healthy – I eat smart!”

The programme’s comprehensive and long-term activities will allow not only to improve the health-related outcomes, but also to raise awareness of the problem and encourage changes in behaviour – both in the students participating in the programme and in the parents of children with overweight. Consequently, the results of the programme will be evident long after its completion.

We start our activities by checking the health condition of children and screening them for the risk factors of lifestyle diseases, in particular TYPE 2 DIABETES. The students who are at risk and their families are then provided with two years of comprehensive specialist care. They regularly meet with PoZdro! experts (doctors, dietitians, physical activity coaches and psychologists) who support the beneficiaries and guide the to introduce healthy changes improving the lives of children as well as their families.The ESMS tests are delivered in schools by a nurse and an assistant.
